Penthesilea is the name of one of the imaginary cities described by Italian novelist Italo Calvino in his book “the invisible cities”. In this piece, the performer will dance and at the same time sing along with their voice. At first, they engage in a sort of duet with themselves; then as the piece goes on, the number of vocal lines increases, composing a complex choral texture over which the performer sings a big lyrical solo. In this piece, I worked with japanese dancer Ichi Go - -, who had had prior experience with classical singing, participating in a number of experimental opera production, singing early operatic repertoire as Claudio Monteverdi and contemporary music.
