Jacopo Salvatori is composer and pianist. He studied piano and composition at the University of
Music and Performing Arts Munich. Jacopo is known for his versatility both as composer and as
pianist. He has written music for an extremely diverse range of contexts: his recent activity
includes an original opera, a musical, two opera productions as arranger, a ballet premiered at
the National State Theatre in Munich, several stage works for prose theatre and installations as
well as the soundtrack for a virtual reality videogame.
As a pianist, he balanced his career between playing solo/chamber music concerts with
instrumentalist and opera singers, and exploring the contemporary repertoire, premiering over
a hundred new music pieces and performing on stage in contemporary opera
productions.Some of his concerts have been broadcast by the German Broadcasters ARD, BR
and the Sky TV channel ARTE and his music and interviews have been broadcast by Deutschland
Funkkultur and NHK (Japan’s main broadcaster).
Since 2014, he has recorded over 10 studio CDs: Debussy’s complete piano works, Philip Glass’
Etudes, Felix Mendelssohn’s songs without words and other albums have been published by the
label OnClassical, now distributed by Naxos of America, reaching several million listeners. One
of his tracks was included in a Set published by Warner Music Netherlands. His latest release has
been published by the label Brilliant Classics (series Piano Classics) and is currently the most
complete collection of Guillaume Lekeu’s piano music.
In 2016, he had the honour of playing Steve Reich’s Music for eighteen musicians under the
presence of the composer himself in occasion of the composer’s visit to Europe to celebrate his
80th birthday.
In the past four years, Jacopo has been awarded with more than seven prizes and artistic grants,
including a fellowship at the Villa Kamogawa in Kyoto, sponsored by the Goethe Institut, the
Casa Baldi grant from the German Academy in Rome and a Residency at Cité internationale des
Arts in Paris. He won the first prize at the International Composition Competition of the Leipzig
Opera House.

Jacopo Salvatori wurde 1986 in Fiesole, Italien geboren. Er studierte Klavier und Jazz Musik an einigen der wichtigsten Musikakademien Italiens, schließ zunächst sein Masterstudium cum laude unter der Leitung von Maurizio Baglini. Zuletzt absolvierte er einen Master in Komposition an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater in München unter der Leitung von Moritz Eggert. Seit 2011 lebt er in Deutschland zwischen Berlin und München und engagiert sich hier sowohl als Komponist und Pianist für Neue Musik. Seine Konzerte wurden unter anderem vom Bayerischer Rundfunk und dem Sky TV-Kanal Arte übertragen.
Als Pianist verbindet ihn eine langjährige Zusammenarbeit mit dem Label OnClassical, wo bereits mehrere CDs von ihm mit Einspielungen von Claude Debussy , Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy und Philip Glass erschienen.
Ein Track aus demAlbum “Philip Glass’ Etudes” wurde als Teil eines Warner Music 3-CD Set in 2018 veröffentlicht.
Jacopo spielt regelmäßig Klavier und Celesta bei dem Ensemble risonanze erranti für Neue Musik unter der Leitung von Peter Tilling. für Neue Musik
Jacopo war Artist in Residence an der Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, Villa Kamogawa in Kyoto und Casa Baldi in Italien, Teil der Residenzprogramme der Villa Massimo (Deutsche Akademie in Rom). Im November 2017 wurde Jacopos erste Oper »How to Kill Your Mother. Projekt Elektra« in Zusammenarbeit mit Tom Smith am Staatstheater Braunschweig uraufgeführt.
An der Staatsoper München wurde das Ballettstück Stimmenstrahl, mit Choreographie von Maged Mohamed vom Bayerischen Jugendballett uraufgeführt. Im Sommer 2021 hat Jacopo den 1. Preis des internationalen Kompositionswettbewerbs der Oper Leipzig gewonnen.

Jacopo Salvatori è un pianista e compositore italiano. Attivo principalmente in Germania, vive attualmente tra Berlino e Monaco di Baviera. La sua musica è stata eseguita in teatri quali Theater an der Wien, Grachtenfestival ad Amsterdam, Theater Hof, Staatstheater di Magonza, Teatro la Fenice di Venezia, Theaterakademie August Everding di München ed alcuni suoi concerti ed interviste sono stati trasmessi dal Bayerischer Rundfunk, da Deutschland Funkkultur, da NHK (la principale trasmittente giapponese) e dal canale ARTE di Sky. Jacopo collabora regolarmente con l’ensemble ‘risonanze erranti’ con il quale si è esibito alla Residenza di Monaco di Baviera, al Festspiele di Bayreuth e alla Elbphilharmonie di Amburgo.
A Novembre 2017 è stata prodotta la sua prima opera, basata su Elettra di Sofocle allo Staatstheater Braunschweig. Sempre alla fine del 2017, nella sala principale della Staatsoper (Nationaltheater) di Monaco di Baviera, è stato eseguito il suo primo balletto, Stimmenstrahl.
È attivo nel campo della musica contemporanea anche come pianista, dove ha partecipato a numerose prime esecuzioni ed ha avuto la fortuna di poter suonare presso gli studi del Bayerischer Rundfunk Music for Eighteen Musicians di Steve Reich alla presenza dello stesso compositore, in occasione di una serie di concerti dedicati al suo ottantesimo compleanno.
Dal 2015 ad oggi sono stati pubblicati 8 album discografici, risultato di un’intensa collaborazione con l’etichetta OnClassical/ÆVEA, attualmente distribuita da Naxos America. Le incisioni hanno ottenuto diversi milioni di ascolti sui principali canali di distribuzione musicale in rete, quali Spotify e Apple Music. Una traccia dell’album Philip Glass’ Etudes è stata inclusa in un set di 3 CD pubblicato da Warner Music.
Jacopo è stato artista residente all’interno della Cité internationale des Arts di Parigi, grazie ad un premio conferitogli dal Ministero per i beni culturali della Baviera, ed è inoltre vincitore di due tra i più importanti premi artistici in Germania: la residenza presso Villa Kamogawa a Kyoto, principale finanziamento del programma artistico del Goethe Institut e Casa Baldi, premio erogato dal governo tedesco in collaborazione con l’Accademia Tedesca a Roma in Villa Massimo.
A giugno 2021 vince il primo premio al concorso internazionale di composizione dell’Opera di Lipsia. Tra la fine del 2021 e l’inizio del 2022 Jacopo è vincitore di due finanziamenti per la ricerca artistica, premi erogati rispettivamente dalle istituzioni GVL e da Musikfonds Deutschland.
